Step-by-Step VR Simulation of a Real Betting Shop Workflow
New hires practice every step of their shift in a lifelike virtual betting shop. In this project, we designed and delivered a fully immersive VR onboarding program for betting shop employees, recreating the real work environment down to the smallest operational and spatial detail.
The experience begins with the employee standing outside a virtual betting shop. They enter the facility, unlock the door, and use their unique employee code to log into the system. Inside, they turn on the lights, power up key devices such as monitors, printers, and air conditioning, and follow procedures to retrieve cash from the safe to prepare the register.
Once the environment is set up, the trainee is guided through a complete routine of opening duties—activating all software platforms, ensuring displays are functioning properly, and performing a checklist of pre-opening tasks.
The scenario then moves into customer interaction. Virtual customers arrive with various betting requests: simple slips, system bets, and live odds inquiries. The employee must guide each customer through the process, use the betting terminal to complete transactions, issue tickets, and handle change. Edge cases like unclear slips, system errors, and customer misunderstandings are also part of the training logic.
The simulation ends only when the full flow from shop setup to actual customer service is completed according to procedure, with feedback given at each step.
From Mistakes to Mastery — Learning & Development Value
The entire simulation is designed with embedded assessment logic. Each user action is tracked, and when errors occur, the system provides contextual feedback. Learners are guided to repeat the specific step until it is correctly performed, reinforcing learning through targeted repetition.
This approach supports skill acquisition through active practice, reduces the risk of performance gaps, and ensures procedural consistency across all locations. VR analytics enable L&D teams to identify patterns in learner behavior, focus additional training efforts where needed, and continuously refine onboarding content based on real user data.
